ART FOR RECREATION

After many years of teaching art in shire halls and council run centre's, I've decided to go it alone.

I intend to create a feeling in the classes that puts the student in charge of their own circumstances,
To discover their art rather than to simply follow me, ask for help if they need, There'll be a large canvas in the room for me to illustrate what I'm meaning to say.

I'd like the students to feel that they're learning, rather than being taught, and to feel encouraged to discover, as opposed to being trained, to work from their own mind in an attitude of experimenting, absorbing whatever messages or signals there are in the room, and in the company of other students.

The aim will be to create an atmosphere of friendly and interesting association in which everybody can enjoy the process and the general direction of the day.

ALL NEW ART CLASSES

Brian Simmonds has been persuaded to postpone his retirement and is starting afresh with new classes, a new venue, new format and new ideas.

The sessions will include demonstrations in oils, pastels or drawing, expanding on the Tresillian format, but with no rules, more laughter and fun and more freedom to learn and express ourselves in our paintings.  Brian will be open to suggestions to make the time spent together more interesting and to increase the community spirit we have built up over the past years of lessons with him.

The beautiful surroundings of the building allow for painting on the verandas or outside under the trees on the paved courtyard, to ‘En Plein Air’ sessions in the park or painting the nearby scenery.

That’s right - no rules - all fun, laughter and so many different choices!
